The other side of the Adriatic
There is another Croatia, just beyond the blue.
Follow the road uphill and the coast gives way to woodland. Platak is a mountain recreation area near Rijeka, in the Čavle hinterland: a place for walking, cycling, unhurried lunches and, when conditions allow, days on the snow. Come for a change of scenery. Stay long enough to notice the change of pace.

Let the season set the pace. The same landscape tells a different story each time you visit.
Follow the forest’s return to green. Choose a clear day for a walk, with layers in your bag: snow and mud can linger after the coast has warmed.
Trade a crowded afternoon on the coast for woodland shade. Bring a picnic, follow a marked trail or explore the cycling routes suited to your ability.
Take the slower path through changing leaves. Make time for photographs and a mountain lunch, and leave enough daylight for the way back.
Come for skiing and designated sledging areas when they operate. Snow, wind and lift schedules shape the day; check the resort’s current updates before setting out.

01 / Higher ground
Experienced walkers can look beyond the recreation area to Snježnik, a 1,506 m summit in Risnjak National Park. This is mountain terrain: choose a route for your ability and consult the park’s current visiting information.

On foot · The Radeševo walk
The green-and-white marked Radeševo route begins near the main parking area and climbs through forest towards the ski-area heights. It is a rewarding introduction to Platak in suitable, snow-free conditions. Give the views their time; a walk need not become a race.
